Henri & Gilles Buisson
Review
The 2019 Saint-Romain Sous le Château is also excellent, offering up aromas of citrus oil and crisp Anjou pear mingled with hints of fresh hazelnut and almond. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and concentrated, it's bright and precise, framed by chalky structuring dry extract. It's hard to choose between this and the Sous le Velle this year, and like that wine, this Saint-Romain will merit at least a modicum of patience. 92+/100 WIlliam Kelley
Franck and Frédérick Buisson have excelled themselves in the 2019 vintage, and they are well on the way to establishing themselves as Saint-Romain's reference point. This 19-hectare domaine in Saint-Romain has been estate bottling since the late 1940s and farming organically since the 1970s. White grapes are sorted, crushed and pressed for two and a half hours, and musts are barreled down with minimal settling. The result is elegantly textural, chiseled wines that can age very well indeed, but which are also hard to resist young. In ever warmer vintages, the domaine's Saint-Romain reds also go from strength to strength: always charming, they're gaining in depth and dimension. This is an estate that comes warmly recommended.
