Roberto Henríquez

Roberto Henríquez is een van de meest besproken wijnmakers van Chili op dit moment.
Werkend langs de Bíobío rivier ongeveer een uur ten zuiden van Patagual maakt hij spraakmakende wijnen van oude druivenrassen zoals País, Semillón en Corinto. Stokken zijn hier gemiddeld 70 jaar oud met uitschieters naar 200 jaar voor de País. Ongefilterd, niet geklaard, geen koude stabilisatie en minimaal sulfiet zijn kenmerken van de uiterst zuivere en spannende wijnen van Roberto. Ervaring heeft hij opgedaan in o.a. Canada, Zuid-Afrika en met name in de Loire bij René Mosse. In dit wilde westen van Chili, zo’n 500 kilometer ten zuiden van Santiago ontpopt Roberto zicht als één van de wijnmakers die de geschiedenis van zijn Chili omarmt en daarbij wijnen maakt die lijnrecht tegenover de huidige wijnen van het moderne Chili staan.
Geen nieuw hout, teveel extractie en alcohol maar lichtvoetig, uitdagend, dynamisch en spannend. Artisanale wijnen en wijnmaker ten top. Sinds 2019 toegevoegd aan ons assortiment dankzij Midas, Graciás!

Review

The 2017 Ribera del Notro Blanco has a higher percentage of Moscatel in the blend than the initial 2016 vintage, because this year he used part of the Sémillon to bottle separately. It shows more Moscatel character but has good complexity, as some of the Moscatel developed flor and the Corinto fermented with the skins. The complexity is more evident on the palate, which has good depth, tasty flavors and a long finish, with a lot more than a pure Moscatel. 6,400 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2017. The 2018 Ribera del Notro Blanco is a white blend of 40% Semillon, 40% Muscat and 20% Corinto from Itata. This is an almost-experimental white blend, and in 2018 Henríquez picked the Semillon extremely early, which gave the wine an herbal, almost Sauvignon Blanc-like character. It has a reductive character, and the herbal character of the Semillon was able to overpower the aromas of the Muscat! Bottled with 12% alcohol, it has a light palate and faint flavors. 6,600 bottles produced. Luis Gutiérrez 93/100
