Een van onze all time favourites! In het prachtige Gredos gebergte maakt Dani van 60 jaar oude druivenstokken een Pinot Noir-achtige stijl van Grenache. Hij heeft oude wijngaarden weer tot leven gewekt in een gebied wat totaal verlaten was en precies deze wijngaarden behoren nu tot de basis voor de beste rode wijnen uit Spanje van dit moment. In de kelder wordt alles handmatig gedaan en met respect voor de natuur en herkomst prachtige, pure rode wijn gemaakt.

Review

The 2021 Las Uvas de la Ira, produced and sold before by Dani Landi, is now a wine from Vitícola Mentridana under the direction of Curro Bareño, who takes over in this cool vintage. It was produced in the same way, from six vineyards in the village El Real De San Vicente, fermented separately and, depending on the vineyards, with shorter or longer macerations (longer in the vineyard they called El Fin del Mundo). Vinification has been like this since 2017, with contained extraction from the earlier-ripening vineyards and getting more grip from the slow-ripening places that have the rock and give the grip. It has contained ripeness and very good balance and expression, with fruit and juicy, but it also has chalky grip. 18,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022. 93/100 Luis Gutiérrez

The new kid on the block is Vitícola Mentridana, a family and friends project from Dani Landi (Comando G) and Curro Bareño (Ca' di Mat and Fedellos) with family vineyards and some of the brands that used to belong to Landi. The first vintage is 2021, but the 2020s are already labeled and sold through this new project. In total, they have 15 hectares in Méntrida and Real de San Vicente, some owned, some rented, but all are worked by them organically (and in due time they should get the certification). Production is around 40,000 bottles. It's a great new addition to Gredos.
