For this vintage we picked the Wellington and Paarl vineyards in 3 and 2 times. This way we can harvest for an acid component, middle and ripe component. And each picking is in a different vessel/format. The acid harvest preferably goes into foudre/concrete and riper components into smaller 300 liter seasoned barrels.

Natte Valleij Wines

Tip van de dames van Parlotte in Amsterdam. Het proeven waard, en ze hadden gelijk. In de woorden van Tim Atkin MW: "er zijn maar weinig die zo veel doen aan de wederopstanding van Cinsault". Alex zijn line-up van Cinsaults is indrukwekkend en nodig tegelijkertijd. Hier houden wij ook wel van. Alex grapt over zijn Cinsault als "the poor mans Pinot" maar zijn wijnen zijn alles behalve gewoontjes. Ze hebben een eigen karakter die het podium verdienen. 

Review

Coastal is Alex Milner's value-for-money Cinsault, the wine that "pays the bills", as he puts it. Combining parcels from Darling, Simonsberg-Paarl, the Swartland and Wellington, planted on shale and decomposed granite soils, it's sappy and fresh, with bramble, raspberry and cherry stone flavours, good structure and a nip of tannin. 2023-27 Tim Atkin MW 92/100
